He should be able to claim social welfare for the days he isn't working (though I think how much he earns can affect it if he's making megabucks).

You get a yellow form, fill it in with Xs and Os for the days you do and don't work, and welfare pay you for the days you're not working (excluding sundays as they dont pay for sundays anyway).

The daily rate is just 196 divided by 6, so €32 or there abouts, according to my lazy googling. :o

The yellow forms have been done away with. Its been replaced with a monthly form of very similar content. Probably to cut down on paperwork.

OP if your boyfriend has the enough stamps for JB then it doesnt matter what he earns for the first year as he'l get €96 a week.
After the first year he'l be means tested and the amount he gets will be assessed then. Factors such as age, savings, salary and living situation affect this payment. But thats a year down the line so he may well be back full time by then

I'm on a 3 day week, I get 98euro every week off the welfare.
I get posted a months worth of yellow slips every month,I just mark the days I'm working with an "o" and the days I'm not with an "x".

Tell him to ring his social welfare officer to make an appointment and they will then set him up. You don't get paid the first weeks one so the earlier he goes in the better.

Apoligies it is €98 a week. Id be interested what part of the country youre in because im on 3 days too and i dont get those yellow slips anymore.
Also i now have to collect my payment from the post office where previously i used to get it in the post. Is the case with you too?
