Do referees at say J3,J4,J5 get any compensation for taking charge of these games?

Don't think so might get some small mileage but they are done as a stepping stone to reffing at higher levels.

You get mileage and you're lucky if you get onto reffing at higher levels.

Ah k I was told they got nothing before and I thought it a bit harsh that they would be spend their own money.

It's only something 40 cent per mile so I wouldn't be planning any holidays with the money. And you don't get money for any of the tolls.

40 cent is pretty decent considering I get 57 from work.

I think mileage is about 51c per mile now. You get your toll paid if you claim it with receipt and the mileage more than covers petrol. You also get a small meal allowance for longer trips within Leinster e.g. Dubin to Longford. They also get some pretty decent gear which is pretty much the same as the Leinster off field gear at a cheaper rate (cost price or less) and are entitled to a discount at the Leinster rugby store of 15%

I never knew you got the toll, thanks for that Downtime. I'll remember that for next season :-) Being a Northsider, I find myself crossing the West link and East link a lot :-)

based on your previous comments I take it that this is a Leinster-based course?
