I never got all this nonsense about girls car/boys car. It's not pink, it's not covered in teddybear alloys, it doesn't have flowers on it.
    It's a bloody car.

Pedals are too close together in them, therefore, it was made for people with small feet, mainly women.

    Draw your own conclusions.

    No, I don't.

As opposed to people with long but narrow feet?

A city runabout, irrelevent to both sexes in this country. Also boring, poorly built and unreliable. Their existence offends me.

OP, what are you really asking here??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,456 ✭✭✭✭Mr Benevolent

As above, it's a crap car.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,857 ✭✭✭langdang

Well, personal opinion wise I think they are meh and a girls car, but on a more important note I know someone who's attended a good few crash scenes and makes out that these and 90's civics have been involved in the worst scenes - which I suppose would agree with previous "poorly built" and "city car" comments.

Doesn't make sense. The above only implies that a higher % people who own 206s and 90's Civics are poor and/or inexperienced drivers.

I don't think they're girls cars but a lot of girls drive them. I had one years ago and i liked it. Fun little thing for nipping around.

However it is French and did/will cause trouble. I would be looking for something else if I were you...

    OP, shudda made a poll.

    It's a girls car, IMO.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭Max_Damage

A 205 on the other hand is a unisex car! Furthermore, the 205 was a far superior in terms of reliability compared to the 206.

If your thinking about buying one or trying to run one, don't. Might as well get taxi's everywhere. It'll be cheaper. I've never seen cars that could break down as much s them balls of crap do.

I would have thought that the 90s Civics are more down to the young lads driving them rather than the cars themselves. Ive never once heard anything to suggest that any Honda is or was poorly designed or unsafe in any way.

As for the OPs question; in the perception of most people yes the 206 is seen as a girls car. I know I could think of about a lot of similar cars I would buy before even considering a 206...

Girlfriend used to have one - mushy suspension + light steering = woman's car.

    If it's a man's car then it's strictly a metrosexual man who can't afford an MX5.

the father has one be it a 1.9 diesel van version. tidy enough little car but a bit on the small side for me. they are no more a girls car than a mk5 gti golf imo

Ah now come on. The 206 is a big girls car, 90% of the GTI's are driven by men

if your driving at night have a look to see how many of them you can see with all the lights working. I guarantee you will see more 206's with one headlight than any other machine on the road!! To answer your question OP the one in the pic is a girly colour but the 3 door ones in black not so much. Oh and how big are your feet??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,613 ✭✭✭✭Clare Bear

I must have gotten lucky then! My 206 is a 1.8 Diesel, it's 10 years old and has gone from Dublin to Cork most weekends aswell as an hour to work every day over the past 5 years and has never given me any trouble whatsoever in the time I've had it, not one problem. My brother did mention that the newer versions are shite though so maybe the ones made in 2000 were made of better stuff? I have no complaints with it anyway but I won't be keeping it for much longer, it did the job for what I wanted though so I can't knock it.

Confab - I said they accounted for the worst crashes not the most crashes.
That is, these cars faired badly when crashed.
Now obviously there is a driver input, but assuming that young and inexperienced drivers also drive other cars, then it suggests these are not good to have a crash in.

Djimi - OK, my original post was poorly punctuated - I never meant to suggest 90's civics were typically 90's jap build.
However the topic of this thread is a pug 206, I thought people would gather that I was referring to them, with the mention of Civic just being an aside.

That is all folks, you know what they say about arguing on the internet...

    +1

Over a 5 year period, the missus spent more money on headlamp bulbs and oil than she did on shoes. Oil consumption on the 1.4 was horrendous.

There is only one real peugeot..... 1.9 205 gti.

My two sister's had 206's. One sold it after 6 months as it was so dull and the other had to replace an awful lot on the car. Eventually bit the bullet and sold it at a big loss. The local mechanic refers to them as peu-****!

Here in leb girls put pink butterfly stickers on their 206 . Sometimes you see guys driving their sister's car that have stickers on. I also want to include kia picanto to the list of butterflys and rainbow warriors cars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,929 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

Well it's not pink, so it's not a girls car. Thougt as much as I loved my pug 406 , which was a little reliable tank, i can say only that 206 is a really smelly turd! Zero comfort and constantly falling apart...

You obviously live near a lot of girls, they hot? Any of them look Eastern European?

What do you think? Girls car or not?

Tends to be driven by women, especially seeing it has very close foot pedals, obviously designed by a French chauvinist for womens feet:D only joking. Good car for a learner or if your on a budget!

Haha nope. decided to go for it so was picking it up. Found the ride very comfortable and pedals were fine. Still think its a bit of a girls car but doesn't really bother me that much I think. Just wanted a second opinion.
