    Hi guys,
Obviously a bit of a thick question, but I just bought a car from a dealer (2005) and the tax is out since April.

What do I need to get it taxed? Any form etc? And will I have to get it back dated to then?

All advice welcome as i am a bit thick here...

If you have the logbook then just bring it to motor tax office and pay the tax. If the logbook was sent to Shannon then you have to wait for it to arrive. You only will pay the tax from first day of June.

    thanks,

Im due to collect the car from the dealer tommorow. I don't know what will happen with the log book...

What are my options? Should I ask them for the log book and then just go to the motor tax office and pay tax...What happens then with change of ownership?

Or will I HAVE to wait to get it back from shannon?

Ask him if he is happy to give the logbook to you. Once you have it with you name on it as the new owner, go to the motor tax office and pay the tax. They will take the logbook of you, change the ownership and you'll receive new one by post.
