    Hi all,

Just wondering, do ye run morning or night?

For those who run in the morning how do ye do it? i.e get up earlier, have something small to eat and then head out or head out on empty?

    Thanks

I personally can't run in the morning. Have tried it, but always feel terrible.

Basically everyone is different, it suits some people.

I eat something small because I hate running on an empty stomach, a banana etc., though too much food makes me feel nauseous so I try to find a happy medium.

I like to run when the weather's nice, or at sunrise/sunset or when there's a clear sky at night. Or in the rain too :P makes me feel tough! Not so much on dull cloudy days though :(

    Up and out. Breakfast after.

That being said I prefer to do quality sessions later in the day.

Really it's whatever works for you.

I run at night but find I sometimes get caught up with family stuff until late enough.
I was going to try drag myself out of my bed earlier and get a run in so anything extra that day is a bonus.
Just wondering how other people make the balance

Short runs during the week - run as soon as I get up, eat afterwards.
Long run on weekend - eat as soon as I get up, go out for run 60-90 minutes later.

    heh Boo

Due to family and work, the best time for me is to run before everyone gets up in the mornings. I just awaken, put on the gear and go. i eat later. it works for me.

Just trial both ways and see which works for you. Best of luck

I run in the morning. I get up early and head out without breakfast. It takes me about 15 minutes from bed to door.

I've tried a small breakfast before running, but it makes me feel worse. Once or twice I nearly got re-acquainted with then contents of my stomach.

A banana and out the door!
I`ve usually got a few miles done before I`m awake and if you get out really early ( 5-6am) there`s no traffic to contend with...I got 11miles in saturday morning with only eating a banana before!

depneds on length of run - up to 8 - 10km run on empty, 10+ banana and brekkie when i get home. everyone is different you just need to figure out what works for you. I do find running in the evening easier than the morning though - but I do both - just depends on what i have on...

Personally struggle with more than 4 miles in morning without breakfast so try to do my main runs in the evening. Also find the paces are quicker in the evening with the effort being easier.
Again this is a personal thing all about trial and error to see what works for you

I prefer running in the evening, but all the events I do start very early, so I do my shorter runs during the week in the evening and my weekend LSRs in the morning. I will normally eat about 90 mins before I want to go, oatcakes and peanut butter being the food of choice.

I don't mind the time as long as I'm able to eat around two hours beforehand, do pretty much all my running after work or in the afternoon at w/ends. Coming up to the Cork marathon I did a few starting at 9am which was fine but meant I had to get up fairly early to have breakfast.

preferred time regards motivation is lunch time , however i do like gettin it over with early , although my pace is normally very bad in morning therefore i avoid speed sessions in morning as much as possible
