    Hi all,

I have the above mentioned plasma and was wondering if anyone knew how to set it up so it automatically started on the HDMI1 input be default? I have an Onkyo SR875 supplying signal (from UPC, DVD etc) to the Panasonic but when I turn on the Panasonic it always starts on the TV input which is really annoying.

I have read and re-read the manual and can't find an "Auto Start Input" or similar setting.

    Cheers

    Ben

It may have a hidden option called "Hotel Mode".

Press and hold the -V button on the side of your TV (this works on many Panasonic models)
    - Whilst pressing -V, press AV three times on your remote.
    - The menu will appear

Activate Hotel Mode here, and select your startup input.

That's assuming you have the feature.

jaysus i'd be extremely cautious if you do go into this menu - sometimes if you change settings it impossible to change them back, its not really intended to be entered unless you really know what you're doing. the latest panasonics have a thing in the menu called "power on preference" but that wouldnt be on the py80 as far as i can remember

Indeed, caution is the key word here.

As regard "power on preference" all it does is give you the option of selecting TV/AV on startup, certainly on the G20. It doesn't allow selection of HDMI ports.

    Hi Adam,

I actually bought my set up off you a couple of years ago and you came out to my house to help set up the Onkyo.

I cant find any "power on preference" in the py80 menu, can you think of any other way to set which input the TV starts on? At the moment it starts on the "TV" input which is never ever used and therefore pretty annoying.

    Ben

ah yes i remember the username now!

no, the "Power on Pref" is only on X10/G10 etc series and onwards.

i could be opening a can of worms here, but try going into the menu on the amp and turning on HDMI Control (As far as i can remember it should be in Hardware Setup on the main Setup screen of the amp). then with amp & tv turned off, turn on the TV first then the amp. sometimes it will automatically switch over. but with HDMI being an absolute disaster of a cable (compatibility wise) it doesnt always work

I have the 42G10L (the irish model), and it too won't default to HDMI1 (or any AV), there is no Power On Preference option on the setup menu. I think this is on the UK version (42G10B) alright.
Big Moe, is this option on the new 50VT20 ? I would like to get it at some stage, but this niggle is annoying !
