Trouble detaching pedals

    Hi guys,

I'm having trouble detaching a set of Look KeO pedals ... I'm used to normal pedals that you detach with a spanner but these seem to require an 8mm allen key ...

But i can't get enough force to detach them. They seem really stuck.

Am I doing it wrong, or do I need some mechanised assistance?

    thanks

Proably just need a longer allen key, or a sleeve over the one you have to extend it. pedals can really get on tight. Remember one of them comes off the opposite from the way you would expect too!

one of them is probably a left hand thread so will need to be opened in a clockwise direction, have you tried putting a bit of pipe or a spanner over the allen key for more leverage?

    Too late:o

tap the allen key with a hammer (make sure your going the right way !)
had to do this once, normally anti seize pedal threads so rarely have the problem

Did you put greese on them before fitting them to the bike? If not, you could be in trouble!!!!

+1. and wd40 them also, loosen them up a bit.

Remember that the left hand side (I think) is reverse threaded. So if you're trying to loosen it by turning it the normal way, you're tightening it. If you use leverage on this to 'tighten' it more, you'll strip the threads. Be careful!
