there's going to be a slew of people on here that suggest antwerp - or even new york. i have no idea why you would want to go abroad to buy your engagement ring. if it's bang for your buck you want, i'd suggest Voltaire. that's where we purchased, and saved 45% on high street jewellers prices. i wrote a post about it here and here in this mega-thread

Hello there. Antwerp is the biggest diamond trading centre in the world and so good deals tend to abound, as long as you do your homework and go to state-accredited jewellers in the old town. These (5) are given here: http://www.adja.be/frammembers.htm. All jewellers are under serious pressure on account of the big R, so asking for discounts and quoting other given prices for same-spec goods is a good way to go. I'd ask for a starting quote from any of the low-overhead jewellers in Dublin or Cork. Dublin examples are www.diamond.ie, Voltaire as Eva mentions above and http://caratz.ie/index.php -- these are Indians with a direct connection to the biggest cutting centres in the world, so certainly a good contender. From here I'd take the best quote for a very specific spec (e.g. 0.8 carat, F colour, VS2 clarity, Very Good cut as certified by the most stringent labs, GIA, AGS, HRD and IGI (this is a key detail)) and shop it around. Standard Irish jewellers may jump to beat it, you never know. Good luck! :)

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/engagement-rings/s/qid=1277079634/ref=sr_pg_3?ie=UTF8&keywords=engagement%20rings&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aengagement%20rings&page=3

Seem to have a wide selection ranging from £20 up to over £3000 which seem to be marked down by a 1/3 the price

like for example: 0.53 Carat D/VS1 Round Certified Diamond Solitaire Engagement Ring in 18ct Solid White Gold

Marked down from £3330 to £999. Although the selling price is probably its real value. i tend not to trust the suggested rrp on sites, but i could be wrong

Go into Keanes Jewellers and Ask for Mary Waters, She is one of the managers. Service is excellent there.

turkish jewellery can have a lower price as the workmanship may be of lesser quality, at least thats what i found out when i looked into it. i am sure that if you look carefully you will probably get good workmanship but the price will reflect that.
