Motor Tax Renewal

    Hi all,

Just a quick question, My car has been off the road since the middle of January, only got it back this week. Basically it needed a new gear box and because I wasn't working I wasn't in a position to pay for it. My motor tax was due for renewal in February but I never renewed.

Now that I have my car back I need to get it taxed and I have the form that needs to be stamped by the guards so that I don't have to pay arrears on it. What I'm wondering is do the guards need to see any proof that the car was off the road? Want to get it all sorted monday so I want to make sure I have everything I need when I go into them.

    Thanks

All the Gardai do is stamp the form as witnesses to the declaration by you that your car was off the road and not in use. They will not look for proof of such to my knowledge.
