I can't be sure, but i thought it was Richard Pugh......

Not a hard job when you have small fields and use emotion in the call...

Well, he managed to name just about every finisher, never seemed to get mixed up, and basically called the races very well.

It was Richard Pugh. He is decent. A lot better than some of the established callers.

Names every finisher? Do you want that? The top four and say where the fav finished is enough, it gets tedious listening to him go through the whole field every bloody race. It seems its getting into a competition too between him and Gerry about who can shout the loudest at the finish.

Yeah, sometimes I want to know where each horse finishes. Its good to be given the information. As for the shouting, he wont do it if the winner is 6l ahead of the second whos 6l ahead of the third....I think its good, especially if your horse is involved in the finish.

I like it but of course you cant please everyone

Yep it was Richard Pugh he nearly always commentates at Down Royal and even a few times at sligo. He is the owner of www.p2p.ie (point-to-point website), he writes the point to point pullout in racing post, he trains a small bunch of horses . He is the main commentator at point to points for the east, north and west.

    /mod hat on:

Would you like me to move the videos to a separate thread so it can have a discussion of its own rather than getting lost on who commentated in Down Royal?
