    Hi
I have a satellite free to air dish but have not been receiving any channels since yesterday.
Everytime I switch on there is the following message "there is a technical fault with this channel please try later"

Anybody else having problems or is there something wrong with my dish?

Unplug the power for a few mins and replug the power and see what happens

with a message on screen like that it sounds like you are using a sky box.

    ^the old classic ;)

No, my Free to air stations and satalite are functioning fine.

I've installed a few for family and friends and the most likely cause is

A: if you have kids/pets the cable got pulled out somewhere... check the back of the reciever box... the satalite cable should be tightened onto the connection at the back... hand tight should be sufficient if not use a spanner untill it's a little firm.

B: The bolts that hold your satalite in place have become loose outside due to weather battering the poor thing... so its probably knocked out of line... even 1 or 2mm could cause this. To fix that you'd probably need a satalite finder to make the job easy. I have done it in the past without one but it's tricky, I recommend talking to anyone near by or family, as satalite finders came free with many of the lidl satalite packages and are now gathering dust somewhere ;)

Most likely cause is B... but A's a lot easier to check ;) goodluck !

"if you have kids/pets the cable got pulled out somewhere."

I have kid, pets and had a bit of a party Thurs night for the Mexican/ France match so it's most likely a problem at my end.

Thanks all for the info I'll try the suggestions.

just check the satellite signal strength.if its around the 14% then something is wrong with the cable from the dish or with the dish itself

Instead of strength he needs a strong signal quality the op has not came back with a reply to whether he got it sorted or not.
A possible signal fault might be many reasons along with just the cable,he could have loose f connection, lnb fault, dish out of line or even a faulty tuner in the receiver
