From what I gather, Time Machine is a way of capturing you computer at a certain moment and saving it to a HDD so should anything happen, you can restore your computer to that moment in time. (Correct me if I'm wrong!)

So, I got a 500 gB HDD today and now my Macbook is trying to run Time Machine on 81.1 gB! This is gonna take forever and I know for a fact it's going to freeze at some stage.

So my question to you guys is, can you do "Time Machining" in increments? If ye get me?

The first back up takes ages as it has to back up the entire hard drive. Future back ups then only back up what changes occurred since the last back up, so generally they're pretty small and quick.

That's good! I'll just leave it on over night so, about a third of the way there...unless the laptop explodes before it finishes!
