    Hi and welcome to boards.ie

Take 10 mins to flick through some of the recent threads and you'll find most of questions have already been answered, especially on the 2.5 engine.

For your budget whatever you get will be a bit ratty and may have issues but you could get lucky. Don't bother with the Jeep Cherokee mainly because they weren't that popular here and won't have the easy spares and advice back up of the more common 4x4s.

I'm thinking Pajero too as a plaything. I fear I missed a decent one a few months ago, sold by Colm_Mc

Mitsubishi Pajero 2.5L all the way. A great jeep, loads of them around around early 1990's and still going as good as ever..

As with looking to buy any car/jeep/tractor machinery secondhand, there are those that have been used and those that have been abused. I'd save up an extra grand or so, you should get a decent one for around €3,000. Don't be a pennywise and a pound foolish, it's always cheaper in the long run to pay that little bit extra for the right thing. If you can't stretch to it, you can't afford to have it IMO.

    Best of luck;)
