We are sad to report today that Michael "Trent Acid" Verdi was found dead this morning. He was found by his grandmother at his place of residence in Philadelphia. He was only 29.

The early belief is that his death was drug-related, but nothing has been confirmed at this time and we'd rather not speculate until we get it confirmed.

At one time, Acid was considered a can't miss prospect from the Philadelphia independent scene, and mainly worked out of Combat Zone Wrestling, but also spent time in ROH. Acid had personal issues and had previously been arrested and jailed on drug charges. Acid was a member of the 'Backseat Boyz' tag team with Johnny Kashmere. Drug problems kept him from advancing past the independent level. Many always thought he could have been a huge star one day.

We're told he had just gotten out of rehab a few days before his death according to friends. He had been arrested on April 2nd on charges of possession of heroin.

Used to love the backseat boys.....first saw him on the wrestling channel and i thought he was awesome.....sad :(

Very sad but not entirely surprising. He had a major drugs problem which he made little or no attempt to hide even while working. He was quite visibly stoned off his face during the King of Europe Cup a few years ago in England.

The Backseatz were decent little team there for a while, I enjoyed their double teams.

    RIP.

Absolute shame. An incredible worker who never got the recognition he deserved, particulary for his 2002 - 2003 work.

I saw some of his ROH and CZW match on the Wrestling Channel and I was a fan of his singles and tagteam stuff. Sad to hear of yet another pro-wrestling related death even though this one unfortunately isn't a major surprise.

    RIP Trent:(

Sad. He undoubtably had talent and had a look which the majors could go for. I really enjoyed his stuff in CZW. Shame really.
