Past transport people Fergus O'Dowd and Olivia Mitchell both took part in the recent failed Fine Gael coup.

That's OK because they both came from the Conor Faughnan school of transport economics. So who will replace them as transport spokesperson? Is there anyone in Fine Gael with a genuine interest in promoting public transport?

Never heard of anyone else but you could have put what O'Dowd and Mitchell knew on the back of a postage stamp. Strangely the only person in Irish politics with a knowledge and interest in transport (railways) is Martin Mansergh but since are destined for a long period in opposition that is of little interest. On mature reflection, Kerry FG TD Jimmy Deenihan who is a Kenny loyalist was/is a leading light in the Lartigue monorail project: http://www.lartiguemonorail.com/Page%203.htm

It makes little difference anyway. Fine Gael proved this week that they're even more incompetent than the current bufoons. They certainly wouldn't be able to hold it together long enough to make a difference to anything. They had Fianna Fail on the ropes this week and fell apart at the last hurdle. What's the collective noun for a load of clowns???

Simon Coveney has been given transport spokesperson position. He was a declared rebel against Enda.

Tommy Broughan is no longer Labour transport spokesperson as he has been demoted for voting in favour of the ban on stag hunting with dogs. I think he is replaced by Senator Brendan Ryan.
