Have my NCT soon. Heard they can fail you on visuals now. If a light comes on the dash. A light comes on mine to do with airbag . I think it was disconnected or something. Passed Nct before. The light goes off after ten seconds or so. Mechanic says I should alert them to it and they wont fail me . What do others think?

My apologies if this is in the wrong forum. Dont know where to post it!

Only a few warning lights are failures, but the airbag is one:

    http://www.ncts.ie/pdf/nctmanual.pdf - page 91.

Alerting is likely to make them fail you, rather than not. If it goes out there is a good chance they won't notice it - as many cars have ALL warning lights come on at engine start.

Talked to a mate who pointed out its the last light to go out on dashboard not a fault.

You're sorted then, normal operation isn't a fail!
