Ok so i found out i had a stress frature tibia in late Febuary. I was told it was from over training. So 15 weeks later im finally making a return to training (Muay Thai).

So i went to 2 classes this week to ease my self back into things, only to find myself totally disheartened with performance, my fitness has totally gone to ****e and my flexibility not great and then to cap it all my leg isnt 100% either. Looks like no kicking for another month:(. It seems its going to be an up hill battle to get back to the level i was at.

Just wondering has anyone here, experience with this? I could do with hearing something inspirational:D as im totally peed off! Going training tonight and in the morning and i need to get motivated.

    Thanks

    Ian

Totally normal for your fitness to take a nose dive after not training for a while. Bit of an uphill struggle to get it back alright, but you'll get there. :)

then to cap it all my leg isnt 100% either.

Have you had the all clear from a professional to say its alright to resume training or have you just thought it was time yourself ? Even if you've had the all clear then I would still take my time coming back into training after a lay off like you've had. Better to be cautious than just jump straight back in risking injuring yourself again OR over training again.

Iv just been to the specialist this morning and has given me the all clear to go back training. He told me that i would know my self when its 100% and to take it easy until it is 100%. I can kick the heavy bags again thanks be to god but only lightly. He also said expect slight pain after training but its important to rest adequately between training sessions. So it looks like Monday Wednesday and Sat for the time being with Gym in between.

Feel a whole lot better after hearing that from him. Still frustrating though, not being able to go 100% but time will sort that. On the bright side my technique should be improving with out having to concentrate on power. Also hopefully my boxing should pick up too.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Fractured a load of ribs once in a tournament. Was an absolute killer. Couldn't train properly for ages and once I was given the all clear it was exam time so I spent more time cramming instead of training. Got to train again in the summer but like you, I was a wreck for about 2 months. Although that might be because I was never HUGELY dedicated to it :)

Comin off a busted knee. (Nothin serious, out for a week or two) and while I'm glad to be back training (thai) what really kills me is sparring with a niggling injury. I'm constantly on the back foot almost afraid to commit to my shots. Very irritating alright.

Yea its a killer not being able to give it 100% alright, im starting to get my self back in action now, slowly but surely. Cant wait to be fully fit again. Iv a few pounds to loose too, too much beer when out of action:o

I started to use http://www.kinesiotaping.com/ to get over injuries quicker. It basically increases blood flow to your effected mussel and you can still train with it on. You can leave it on for about 4-5 days in the shower and everything.

Lots of players in the world cup are wearing it. You need help to put it on for your back. There are loads of videos of how to apply it on youtube. My physio started me with it but its pretty easy to put on.

I was treated for the Irish Open (Judo) last November with it, and found it amazing. At the time I'd a moderate tear to my ATFL. I hoped into the physio, and walked out. Three days later I fought and took home bronze.

I've been looking for it online since, and can't find a source for it.

Having said that the physio at the time told me its only sold to physio's?.

It looks super hi-tech too :p
