    Hi folks,
As title says, my insurance is up for renewal. Been with Quinn for 5 years now and think it's about time I started shopping around. Apart from local brokers, can anyone recommend any direct websites where I should be shopping?

    So far, I have:
    Quinn www.quinn-direct.ie
    Hibernian www.hibernian.ie
    FBD www.fbd.ie

Anywhere else that anyone can think of? Best so far is Hibernian with €807 on a 320d, 24 male, Full NCB

(This price includes windscreen, NCB protection, breakdown etc)

Start at page 709 and go through to page 740 of the 01 Golden pages. It's the only way to get the cheapest policy.

Chill.ie supposedly compare something like 12 companies. Worth trying them, then ringing the company directly to see if they can better the quote (worked for me a few years ago; Eagle Star came in at €100 cheaper direct than the quote Chill gave me for them).

Ring your local broker, Brokers can quote from up to 25 different insurers and can usually beat the direct companies on price on the same policies as they buy policies in bulk.

I renewed my policy last month and the best quote was with 123.ie

Some people I know have moved from Quinn to Aviva recently and got a good chunk taken off their policies.

get out the yellow pages and ring every company and every broker.

well as much as you can, thats the only way to get the best price.

+1. And ring them, don't bother with onilne quotes.

Regarding Aviva, i've found them cheapest for me over the past few years, but mainly because they give 30% discount for an IAM license. They do, in my experience, seem more amenable than most to negotiation.

    What about:

    http://www.insure.ie

    http://www.123.ie

Is there a reason to avoid these ones?

Also Hibernian is now Aviva (as is Landsdowne Rd) :D

I went through firstquote, great guys to deal with, got me a really good quote with Aviva in the last few weeks. Definitely ring them, it's so much easier to compared to online systems. And i got better quotes on the phone than on the online systems.

123 and donedeal wouldn't quote for a Forester XT at all, apparently it's too 'high performance' for them. It also surprised me how few ins cos are doing open driving these days - AXA won't, Zurich won't, and none of the cos the AA deal with will either.
