Hi, thinking of getting a desire.

Has anyone had any problems with pairing with BMW bluetooth (08 model 520)?

Pairing worked fine with a Lexus 450H.

Dunno if it's of any help but I've paired with a Parrot CK3100 bluetooth car kit smoothly, no problems, automatically transferred my contacts and all. I've had an N95 8GB before and pairing that was much more of a hassle.

If you google "htc desire pairing BMW 520" you will find a few posts of people sucefully pairing the phone & car.

I did, but I also found a few with problems. Seems the country specs of the car can be slightly different so wanted to see if there were any Irish "successes".

Anyway, bought the desire about an hour ago so will know soon enough!!!!!!

Worked well for me on a 07 523i; auto connection on entering the car, handover and hand off when entering and leaving the car worked well, phone book transferred perfectly, however I did have the occasional bluetooth disconnection on calls over 10ish minutes.

I now have a brand new F10 BMW 530d and everything seems to work well as before, however not all my contacts are transferring - not sure why, I thought it might be contacts with a picture - but some do and some don't transfer. I also thought it might be contacts linked on the Desire to Facebook or other social media, but even after unlinking I still have the same issue. I hear there is an update to the bluetooth connection for cars in the 2.2 Android update coming out in 2 weeks time, so I'll wait until then and see if the problem is resolved.

    Hey,

A fellow Desire owner had problems paring his BMW with the Desire. I'm not sure of the car model, except it is a fancy one, with in built computer/display on the dash, at least a 7 series. He got the guy from the Car Phone Warehouse to come out to his car and try and set it up but no joy. The contacts were not showing up, but he had limited success with, i think, making but not receiving a call.

If anyone has any tips on paring the phone with BMW's I'd be glad to here em!

    Go Team!

I spent some time investigating why some contacts from my HTC Desire don't sync with the new F10 5 series. All the contacts that don't sync have a contact picture, contacts that do sync don't have a contact picture.:o

I guess I'll have to dump my contact pictures

Yes but once everything is sync'd I'd imagine you can put them back on the phone. Try one to see of it's the case. :)

Seems to work fine with my E60 - contacts all transfer (only photos on one or two of them, must double check that they transfer). Had to reduce the number of contacts though to under 500 for it to work.

Temporarily removing the contact pictures won't work though (if that is a problem) as the phonebook sync's each time you connect.

I deleted the picture from one of the non-transferred contacts, it synced perfectly to the car. Just out of curiosity I added a picture to the same contact afterwards. The next time I entered the car it failed to sync....

At least I have a solution now, but it means loosing all my hard entered contact pictures on google.:(

Darragh, before you delete your Google contacts' photos, it might be worth trying selecting just your phone contacts in your Desire. Select "People" on your Desire's front page, then select "Menu", "View" and uncheck "Google". Click Done and then try the BMW to see if you can get the sync to work.

I'll give it a try later and let you know. Thanks for the input.

Nope. I did as you suggested, only the non photo contacts synced. Maybe Android 2.2 or a BMW update will fix it.;)
