Foolishly I got caught by a gatso van a a couple of weeks ago, which means I've gotten 4 points in the last ten months (I'm not a fast driver generally, honest).

Just curious how this will affect my premium when I renew next month?

    Ask the AA?

Most companies turn a blind eye to 2 points. 4 will most likely affect you. As for how much youre asking the wrong people Im afraid; best to contact the AA directly!

Aye, obviously enough I'm going to make the AA aware I have points when I renew.

I was just hoping someone might have been in the same situation, and be able to tell me to what extent it affected them.

AA are brokers. They use different companies so no real way of knowing.

One thing to be aware of, you don't get penalty points from the date of the offence you get them from a date after you've paid fine. You don't need to inform your insurance company till you get the letter saying when the points will be applied to licence, as it's 3 years from this date you have points so no point in being penalised for longer then necessary.

Just renew with the 2 points then contact them when you get the next 2.

Most insurance companies only care on 6 or more points. Should be ok OP.
