    Hi guys,

I'm heading to South America for four months and am going to buy a rucksack, trekking shoes and one or two other sundry bits. I'm going to buy decent gear as I don't want it falling apart so I was wondering where the cheapest place is to buy it???

I know the regular places like Great Outdoors and Mary Street, but what about the Kildare or up North?? Any recommendations??

I have gotten stuff online recently from Jackson Sports as they have free delivery, they are based in Belfast so the stuff usually arrives within two days. They are a good bit cheaper than the Irish shops, obviously the downfall is that you can't try it on before, but could be good for smaller items!

+1 on jackson sport...good value and everything delivered and well wraped in a box.
As for trying stuff on...try stuff on in the greatoutdoors or 52 degrees north and take a note of sizes ect...

Portwest have recently opened a shop on Suffolk Street; it's got a huge range and is worth a visit.
