    Hi,

    Quick question to pose.

My sister lives in Ballindine/Claremorris and has aerial that picks up RTE and BBC's etc. I've been told it points to Castlebar.

Will she be able to pick up DTT without altering anything. She needs new TV and might aswell get one for DTT.

Her aerial is about 2 years up.

I supppose my question is, does Castlebar broadcast DTT

    Thanks

For DTT, you would be better off getting a new aerial and pointing it south towards Maghera, I am outside Tuam and have a good signal. No DTT from Castlebar at present, might change in the future.

    Thanks

I understand this stuff sort of but will probably tell her to get someone to do it for her.

I've heard that the digital is only in test. Is this true and if so is it down often. i ask because she will probably get rid of other aerial if no use as she has FTA for BBC and all them.

I see some of the houses around her have a smaller aerial aswell as the big one. The smaller ones are pointing south. Are they for digital?

DTT won't officially go live until autumn of this year, in the meantime the test signal is pretty reliable but not totally.

Doubt if too many people are clued into DTT just yet, the small aerials are probably for analogue NTL or something.

She might want to consider a combo box i.e. combine Freesat for the UK channels with Irish DTT, works pretty well and a very good quality picture (needs a sat dish plus an aerial). Plenty of info in this forum if you do a bit of searching.
