    hi guys,

i have recently installed windows 7 32 bit on my girlfriends dell inspiron 640m laptop , its a few yrs old and the hard drive capacity is not enough to hold everything she needs (OS ,programs etc), so we need to upgrade the hard drive's storage capacity.

if i buy a new sata 2.5" internal hard drive for the laptop , what other tools will i need to pretty much make a carbon copy of the old drive onto the new one and then replace the old with the new.

will i need some kind of sata to usb adapter/cable ??... to connect the new hard drive to the laptop and then go through the clone process ??

what is the best software program for cloning the drive and is it free or will i need to purchase it.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

    regards,

    paul.
