Fees question-very important

    Hi everyone,

Basically my question is as follows.I dropped out of my first year of Trinity last November for personal reasons. The timing of this would technically have qualified me to pay half fees should I return to college. However I wrote a letter to the senior lecturere requesting that I be listed as having withdrawn before October 31st,the deadline to get your fees back so to speak, due to the circumstances.I never got a reply in writing from that person.

So now I'm stuck and need an answer.I emailed the admissions office and the senior lecturere but have received no response.Would anyone know of any government department I can contact directly to get clarification? Also,if I am required to pay half fees,do I have to pay the fees every year or just 1 year,as I have heard previously that the state will pay for 4 years of third level education.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, this is hugely important to me.

Can't help with whether or not you counted as withdrawn by the threshold date, but...

If you had free fees paid for half a year and start a new course, you must pay fees for the first half-year of your new course. Thereafter, free fees.

If you had free fees paid for a full year and start a new course, you must pay fees for the first full year of your new course. Thereafter, free fees.

So essentially,I'll only have to pay fees for my first year, and the government will be required to pay for the rest, even if I change institution?

That's terrific, thank you so much for that.

At worst, yes. You're welcome. :)
