They're remaking The Equalizer as a movie with Russel Crowe....dear god!
The majority of these "conversions" fail, and for good reason.....i'm not a huge fans of remakes/reboots and the ilk.

It sometimes works (insert Batman style Nolan) but for me i think it just lazy, we need more original content both in movies and tv, too much rehash and retrash.

I hate CGI cartoons in live-action sets.

There have been some which were good.

I loved Dragnet with Hanks and Aykroyd.
Then there's Serenity, Star Trek and South Park.

It's very rare for tv to film transitions to actually work, but it doesn't mean they should stop doing them.
I'll take the list of other awful stuff if it gets me one South Park or Star Trek film every once in a while.

There are numerous films based on tv shows which are great, they are the ones which respect the source material.

Take a film such as Starsky and Hutch, it's a woefully mediocre film which spends 90+ minutes poking fun at the source material. For it's time the show was rather risqué and cutting edge and not a buddy comedy.

Miami Vice the film works due to the fact that it's true to the spirit of the show. The fashion, cars, boats and storyline are all bang on the mark. Like Starsky and Hutch the show was ahead of its time.

Funnily enough I liked Starsky and Hutch but didn't really care for Miami Vice.

Bad, bad, bad. In fact I'm struggling to think of an example of a good one.

Twin Peaks: FWWM was such a massive letdown. I've nothing else to add only that.

Charlies Angels anyone or The Chipmunks-hated the tv shows and the movies are worse.Star Trek and The Untouchables along with Serenity are how it should be done.BTW. Fraggle Rock is on the way, another childhood memory on the way to being ruined!

Except for the random David Bowie scene which is utterly pointless but totally hilarious it is indeed pretty much entirely redundant.

Yeah bar a couple of exceptions - Serenity which is one of my favourite films, and some of the Star Trek films especially the latest one - they tend to be garbage.

For a movie based on a TV show that was relatively bad to begin with, I thought the Charlie Angels flick was just good fun - turn off your brain, munch your popcorn, and just enjoy.

Night at the Roxbury, though would that count as it was just a skit more than a full fledged TV show?

The Adams Family-decent. The Flintstones-don't get me started, what a waste of time.Ejoyed the Batman movies with the exception of Joel Schumachers abomination. Nobody mentioned The Naked Gun movies-I know they're basically extended versions of the tv episodes but still very funny.

    Good:

    State of Play
    Mission Impossible
    In The Loop
    The Addams Family
    The Naked Gun
    Maverick
    The Untouchables
    The Fugitive
They're remaking The Equalizer as a movie with Russel Crowe....dear god!

On the one hand I love(d) The Equalizer, on the other hand I love Russell Crowe ... now put your hands together :D

As mentioned The Untouchables. De Palmas best movie with the obvious exception of Scarface.

Maybe it's just me or are all the movies based on kids shows utter garbage and destroy any enjoyment we originally got from watching the original shows.Anybody got a view on what shows would make a good movie?

Carrie/Carlitos Way/Dressed to Kill would beg to differ.

Dont get me wrong,I love the Untouchables and think its a fantastic film but in my humble any of the above are better overall movies.

Plus Connerys horrible, horrible accent is a major dent in it for me.
