Buying Eyeshadow

    Girls,

I find myself unimaginative when it comes to buying eyeshadows. I always tend to pick up gray/silver/black combos from Rimmel/Bourjois/Collection 2000 and I'm determined to have a more well rounded collection.

My collection has some golds, bronzes and oranges too, but I'm at a bit of a loss at what colour to focus on next. Should I try to find a palette with 12/24 colours or go for high quality single colour pots from the likes of MAC/Benefit ?

And eyeshadow primer - which is the best? I only recently learnt of this miracle item as I find my eyeshadow doesn't seem to last very long on the eyes.

I'd say get a big 24 shadow pallett to find out which suits you/you like then investing in a more expensive version of that colour..

I discovered dark plums and lilac a while ago, really nice change to tehe greys and blacks but give a lovely smokey effect, i know avon do them and i think bourgois are doing a few palettes with different colours.

Buy the deluxe shadow pallet from Urban Decay (the one in the purple velvet container with the shiny silver sequin bit). You won't regret it, it's a great buy.
Urban Decay primer potion is very good too. If you buy the shadow pallet, you get a mini bottle of primer potion with it. ABout €36 in Debenhams.

If you're ever in a Superdrug you should buy one of their Sleek pallets!
I think they have 3 different pallets and are all £5 each!
I'm not sure if their online site ships to Ireland but the pigmentation of the eyeshadows is really good!

I have the original pallet and it's a lot better quality than some more expensive shadows I have!!

Sleek palettes are supposed to be fantastic, I've seen loads of bloggers rave about them. Haven't had a chance to pick one up myself though.

I usually find it's a good idea when you're trying out a new colour to pick it up from a cheaper brand and then if you like it you can buy a more expensive version. Indie online makeup companies are a good idea for trying out new colours as you can buy cheap samples. Try fyrinnae.com they have a really wide selection of good quality colours and you can but samples for around €1. They ship to Ireland for free if you spend $20

Go to ebay and look up 120 or 88 palette, they're between 10 and 15 euro and they're fairly decent. Mess around with those and then go get good versions of the colours. :)
