a dangerous exit

the vehicular exit onto the main road of my property has become dangerous owing to oncoming traffic only seeing me at a very late stage..
What are my rights in this regards?
Is the council obliged to place a warning sign such as *Slow down -concealed entrance* or some such?
I understand that it would be illegal for me to erect one myself but I could be wrong there.
Or can they oblige me to make another exit where they might consider it safer? (this might incur expense -the exit has been in use for over 50 years in my own family and presumably well before that too)
To be honest and upon reflection I would say that it was the council that increased the danger a good few years back when they widened the road and removed the grass verge that had served as a footpath up till then and also provided a degree of visibility

Can you widen the entrance to improve visibility and/or fit a mirror?

Ask. All they can say is "no".

Probably illegal. Council sign or garda approval required. Talk to council.

I think this is when you should have spoken up.

thanks for your answer.I should consider that quite seriously.I can't easily widen the entrance as it is a wide semicircular stone wall attached to the main stone wall running the length of the main road .
The mirror idea seems like it might work.
And I have to keep on top of the vegetation that keeps growing on the side of the road through the semi hard surface...

What's concealing your entrance - is it trees/bushes or a wall? Could you ask the council to chop these down?

well it is just the late bend. the wall (mine) that is right up to the road plus the vegetation (tall weeds and ivy etc on the wall).Plus it could be that the straight bit of road leading up to the actual entrance may be a bit of a curve itself which wouldn't help.
I feel like it would be my own responsibility to keep the wall clear (I could be wrong but I wouldn't expect (or really trust) the council to do that job -it is ongoing and I am not sure that even it it was completely clear that it would still not be very dangerous))
The other day I had everything set up to make as safe an exit as I could-1st gear ,indicators on ,engine revved .I looked left and right about 4 times and moved out very quickly (a right turn) only for a car to approach at the exact same moment and give me a hoot.
It occurred to me that if another car had been overtaking the oncoming car (incredibly unlikely) then I was basically dead as I can't even drive to the other side of the road as there is a wall there.
