Attending Court as a Witness whilst on JSB

I was wondering if anybody would know the answer to this? I have been summonsed to court next week to act as a witness for the prosecution in a case. Now from what I can read on the internet, witnesses are entitled to the expenses of missing a days employment. How would that work whilst on JSB? Also, would I have to inform the Social Welfare Office that I am going as I cannot look for work on that day?
