London Heathrow Terminal 1- Terminal 3

    Hi,

I have a quick question regarding how much time do I need to get to terminal 3. My flight from Dublin to Heathrow is at 8.40 arriving at 10 am. My next flight to Toronto is departing at 12.05. My tickets are separate bookings, so this means I have to pick up my suitcase after my flight and then basically rush to terminal 3 and then check in again.

My main question is: Can it be done?

Bmi won't book my bag through from Dublin as its not on the same booking!

I had a similar experience at x-mas so was busy but BMI checked my bag all the way through. You should have plenty of time to be honest as long your first is not delayed.

dont know about the transfers but t1 and t3 (along with t2) are linked by subways (moving walkways through some), allow at least a few minutes between them if prepared to run.

They checked your'e bag straight through even though they were on separate bookings? I rang BMI this morning and the man said they don't book baggage through if bookings are made separately.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I've done similar trips myself and you should be ok getting through in that time. Though a word of warning, the bmi luggage does take a while to turn up in Heathrow from Dublin. I've been standing at the baggage carousel for 30+ mins a few times.

I will be in the same boat tomorrow. Arriving from Aer Lingus at 7:15, then need next flight from T3 at 9:30. I've found online that it apparently only takes an 11 min underground walk, so that's fine.

However, a pal suggested I let Aer Lingus know when I'm dropping my bag off and they might do what they can to seat me near the front of the plane or allow my bag to come out first, etc.

It will take longer for your luggage to turn up than it will for you to get to T3. It is not that far and will take about ten minutes to walk there once you leave T1.

You should be able to do it.
