    Hi

I have a relative coming to visit and was thinking of hiring a car that would fit his wheelchair in the boot. Would a folded up wheelchair fit in a Ford Focus or similar car? Or would anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you!

What you'd want is a Renault Kangoo / Citroen Berlingo or similar.

Sliding doors in the back for easy access, a big boot and a bootlid that goes right down to the floor so you don't have to heave the wheelchair over any lips or edges.

The boot on these yokes may even be big enough for you not to have to fold the chair at all.

From experience chauffeuring my grandmother around, you have to either take out the parcel shelf or let down the back seats of a hatchback focus (new shape) in order to fit a wheelchair in the boot. My 1 disapointment with my focus.

You'd really want to try the car as you'll be surprised what will fit a wheelchair and what won't.

My wife's 156 fits a wheelchair easily whereas my Brera which looks like it has a bigger boot just won't.

It's more down to shape than capacity.
