Bonding

    Hi there,

Just looking for some advice - I am considering bonding for my front teeth. I had some overcrowding and had teeth removed as a child, this more or less resulted in straight teeth on right side but I didn't get bottom incisor removed and this makes my tooth next to front top tooth stick out at an angle. It doesn't bother me enough to go through expensive orthodontic treatment (dentist told me I would need train tracks on bottom and retainer on top that I would need to wear forever!!! to ensure no further movement & costing betw 3-5k depending on where I get it done)

Recently, however, I was advised that I could get a good result with bonding - this would mean bringing forward my front teeth in line with crooked tooth and filling in gap at angle. Does this sound feasible/advisable to dentists out there? I would love nice, straight teeth but don't want to damage my own teeth which are very healthy in the process.
    Does bonding damage healthy teeth?
    Is it reversible?
Will I look goofy if they build on my front teeth to make them in-line with crooked?
    Is this process advisable?

Thanks so much for any suggestions!!!

Bonding can work well, however what you discribe is quite extensive. The thing is you are stuck with bonding, it is not reversible like some dentist claim. The teeth need to be lightly cut to achieve a good bond and an invisible result. The bonding tends to degenerate over time picking up stain in the margins around the real too / bond interface which can be unsightly.

I similar idea to bonding but better looking and longer lasting is veneers. Personally if its only one tooth thats the problem orthodontics sound like a good long term option.

Post a pic (in focus please) for a better discussion.....
