    Hi guys
have finally found a decent BMW, it's a 2006, 320SE saloon, one owner, loads of extras and i cam get it for €13K, only prob the mileage is 81K miles, it does come with the full service history etc,
    what do you think?
Is the mileage going to cause me problems in the future,
    oh and it's petrol,
any advice would be very welcome
    thanks

Is it UK import? I thought cars after 2005 don't have miles on the clock. They have km's and 80k km's is normal for 4 year old car.

You got me there, had a look at the clock and it said 80,000 mls, as I said it has the full service history so I suppose I can check on that if it's an import

just to give some insight on pricing, i sold my 2005 320d last year with 121k (miles) on the clock. it was an irish car from brand new with complete service history and some nice options including bluetooth, leather, MFST, OEM MP3 radio, and i sold it for €13,600.....gave the buyer back €500 as there was no tax on it.

IMO 13k Euro is alright for petrol BMW 320 with 81k miles.

How many miles do you do a year? And how long do you expect to keep the car? Once it hits 100k miles it will loose value very quickly!

Personally I would spend another 1000 or 2000 and get the 320d (diesel).

I do hardly any mileage, around 6k a year

320i? From what I heard many regret their purchase and if they were to do it again they would have bought a 320d, they say it has no power, nothing.

To be honest then it looks like a good deal for you!

It should run for another 40k miles without any issues, but like a said you should expect it loosing value quickly once you hit 100k miles.

In the long run the diesel would be cheaper to run, but with the low miles you the few Euros extra per tank will never get to the 2k Euro extra you would spend on the diesel.

Especially if you are buying privately make sure you get it checked by an independent mechanic to make sure you don't regret your decision!

That is true, depends what you are looking for!

You do get a little more power in the Diesel (163 vs 150 BHP) and you get a lot more torque in the Diesel (350 vs 200 NM).

Yeah, but then I had a 316i before, e36, it was not bad to be honest.
I don't know on the e90, the people I spoke to were saying it is very bad, it is reving all the time but it does not move.

Isn't that engine supposed to be troublesome?

OP, I think the digital odometer that has the mileage reading can be switched from km to miles easily. Check the actual speedometer if it is KPH only or MPH with KPH. If it is MPH with KPH then it is a UK car.

the E90 clocks cost about 1000e to change over!
the main dealers had to build this into their pricing when they were offering their UK sterling collection.

way too expensive for the little difference it makes, i would stick with the MPH clocks tbh.

The pre ED models were OK, it's from late 07 that they started to give major issues.

I had a quick look through the history of some 06 320i and 318's we had. A few of them had got to 120 - 130k km's and most of them had just had standard servicing / tyres / tax. One did have a few breakdowns and a quite a lot of work done, but you'll occasionally get lemons. In general they seem fairly reliable and I'd say it will be good for a good few more miles as long as it's serviced correctly.

I've driven quite a few 06/07 318's and they aren't really that bad. Don't think I've driven a pre ED 320 as most people wouldn't fork the extra money for the extra power.

As long as it's sufficiently cheaper than an equivalent diesel it would make a good buy at the OP's annual mileage.
