Possible area's of employment for people

    Hi everyone,

I am lucky I have a job, and my heart goes out to anyone who is looking for work at the moment.

I have thought though. There is a recession going on at the moment, but in certain area's there would be lots of work due to the downturn. Examples might be work in Aldi, or Lidl, for possible solicitors, I know for a fact there are many jobs in the area of employment law with firms. In Unions......many companies would be negotiating people's redundacies, unfair dismissals etc....would anyone be interested in becoming a Union Rep, lots of work there at the moment! (And well paid) Maybe possible work with homeless people or the St. Vincent de Paul maybe there are positions there with many people having lost there homes. There is also work available in the area of care assistants in nursing homes etc. The ISPCA....many people can't afford pets anymore, and they are now strays, and people may be needed in the ISPCA to rescue animals etc.

These are some examples I have thought of that there would be work in at the moment, if I can think of anymore area's I will update this thread.Would anyone have any other idea's for area's of work due to the recession?

I hope this helps in some way for people looking for work, and best of luck to you all.

PS Sorry in advance if this is inappropriate for AH's. Feel free to move if you like

I have a job I like. The hourly rate excellent (the all-night rate even better) but it can still be a pain in the arse sometimes.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The social welfare offices (So many people waiting in line to get their dole, many applications for dole applications etc). FLAC (Free Legal Advice Centres) People looking for advice on their houses, or advice on their jobs. They are not experts or solcitors, so maybe that might be another area.

Due to the recession, many people are suffering with alot of stress, depression, anxiety etc.... maybe people could look into doing a course in councelling, or relaxation techniques/classes

solicitors can go clean toilets, they hoovered up the cash in tribunal's, property, etc...

And what's wrong with cleaning toilets? Plenty of people do this to keep a roof over their head.

That's the problem with employment on this island, too many people categories themselves into certain jobs that are "below" them.

The man/lady that cleans the toilets deserves the same respect as any other employee!

The goverment should be forcing the long term unemployed to earn their dole money. Our streets are filthy, how about cleaning the place up? Filling in pot holes, painting road markings, repairing pavements etc.

childcare in this country's a disgrace. myself and my wife are both lucky enough to be working but we haven't a bean to spend on the sh'ite like doin the house up or weekends away (ya know, the stuff that nets vat, keeps people in jobs and basically keeps the economy ticking over) - every penny we have disposable income goes to keeping the next generation of income tax earners safe and sound.

in short - go into childcare, if your paying the equivilant of a mortgage every month to any one company, there must be money in it...the b'astards

Out of interest, how much are you paying, how much do you think it should cost?

While we're at it, how much do you think childcare institutions pay for insurance?

to be fair, although i work in dub i live in the country so it's not dublin rates...i pay about 1300 for 2 kids. i think the insurance companies take a massive amount of that money tbf...i'm not knocking creches themselves but it's crazy money.

my suggestion would be more widespread community childcare or a tax relief on money paid. the years free childcare will help but only by about 260 a month i think (that's just a guess). either way, i've lost 25% of my wages over 2 years, my wife has lost money too and we're both trying to keep our heads above water. if circumstances were different my wife would give up work - this is half my problemm with the state not doing anything in this area. 2 parent working families are forced into a senario where one might have too give up work, this is not good for the country in the middle of a recession

It's so expensive that it needs to be factored in when deciding whether to have a child. Absolutely ludicrous!

Sounded like you were in your first, post but maybe I picked you up wrong.

Agree with you about tax breaks, but in the current climate...? I'd have like to see creches offer a discount for the second child. Not sure how that would work out as I'm not a parent.

Perhaps insurance is the game we need to be in :D

well...i was sorta knockin them. just the price!

they do a discount of 5% for the second child...only the second, not the combined price!

yep...i'm going to start me an insurance company...now, stick the kettle on i'm just nipping down the bank to borrow a few mill, back in a jiff :D
