was going to make up some thing to push silage in to cattle, on out farm. we feed with the loader every second day. and every other day we push it in with a 4600 and old scraper. dose the job grand but there is a lot of forward and reversing involved. it is a double sided feed passage with a meal store at the end, so cant drive straight through.
the problem is neither the scraper or loader can clean out the old silage, with out serious risk to the stock(heads out through rails)

is it possible to make some thing to do both jobs in the one machine or the alternitive is to make up an A frame and have two separate machines.
    hydraulics are an option

any ideas, comments, suggestions and pictures welcome

Why don't you ask this fella who can solve problems like yours? Only one post though most of these come here and never come back.

You could make a small gate that slides up and down behind the feed barrier to keep cattle back from scraper etc. while you are driving in the passage. It would be cheaper than lockable headrails.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

That's a beauty. So simple and effective, not to mention low cost.

If you drive slowly cattle aren't stupid and will learn to pull there heads in. There's no risk to their heads with the like of a 4600 as you should be able to see out round the wheels. I'm assuming the driver will know to stop if they don't pull their heads in. Pretty quickly they'll get used to keeping their heads in and scraping problem solved.
