How to increase cycling speed over 20-40km?

    Hello,

I've signed up for my first triathlon in September, and aside from learning how to swim(:o), i want to focus on improving my cycling speed over the shorter distance.

I've done a lot of mileage on the bike in the last few months, and can do a hilly 200km at avg speed of 27-28kph. A couple of weeks ago, I did the cycling course for this triathlon at an avg speed of 32.2kph (distance was about 27km).

So i'm looking for advice on how to increase my speed on the bike. Is interval training the way to go? Or is there a training plan anyone could recommend?
