    Anyone know the wereabouts

It was my Dads old car and trying to track it down
    Mk1 Mondeo SLX
    1.8D
    Dark Aubergene
Last known whereabouts are that it was sold by Ford main dealer in Cork in 02.

    Will buy the car back.

I tried this a while back with my Dad's last car before he kicked the bucket passed on. You can write to the motor tax office and enquire as to it's whereabouts.

Did it work / did they reply?

@RossDonegan - you can pay for the service of motorcheck. I think one of the things they will tell you is when the car was last taxed. If it has recent tax, the car is probably still alive. If the last tax was several years ago, the car is most likely scrapped...

    Thanks.
Did you track it down eventually ??

Hopefully I might get somewere on here.

Any nice person tell me if it's taxed or nct'd.

Can anybody with a year pass to cartell ect check it for me ??

Does anyone know of a dark purple Mondeo nearby ?? If so it could be it.

I think it was sold by a main dealer and ended up in Mallow town around 2002 ??

Mine wasn't traceable - but the tax office did help out a lot. Huge sentimental value, but then again, what the hell would I do with a gold Carina II diesel - other than sell it to Volvoboy for one million dollars? :pac:

If its still around Cork put a wanted ad in the pink pages with a few details, I think they allow photo ads too, get a bit more attention

    everyfordireland too, might get lucky

I would love to get this back, it's the first car I remember being in.

I'd imagine due to data protection and potential psycho stalkers the details would not and should not be given out.

those 1.8 diesels were horrible, I was driving one as a company car in the late 90's, ughhhh

    Totally understand.
I was hoping someone would recOgnise the number and atleast give me a location. For all I know the owner could be reading this right now.

It was just worth a shot.

Tax is out since Oct. '07 and NCT out since Sept. '05. Last changed hands in May '02. That's all I can tell you.
Seems unlikely that it's still on the road I'm afraid.

Thank you very much. How did you get this info ??

Could you check 2 other cars for me that I'd also like to trace if possible ??

Sentimental value on 3 cars now?. Be careful or you'll never be able to move on from selling a car of your own.

I was hoping to find the 96 Mondy.
But looks like it's gone to the big scrappy in the sky.

Hopefully one the others will be still around.

If you know someone in the Gards, they should be able to find out in no time.

Last change of owner was 2002. And I think it went to Mallow town. So someone might recognize it. If not ill give the Guards a shot.
    Thanks.

Just be aware that the people who have official and legal access to this sort of information (members of the Gardai, among others) are legally prohibited from disclosing it to the general public, and there could be serious consequences for their career if they are found to be doing so.

I've fond memories of my uncles Java Blue mk1 1.8tdi
learned to drive in it around his fields, was given the key and left to figure the rest out myself

the thing had been parked up for a few years , brakes didn't really work
handbrake didn't work at all so I had to balance my foot across the brake and accelerator pedal when taking off

plus learning clutch control in a diesel wasn't easy

If you know the reg and date of first registration (can be gotten from cartell if you don't know it) then you can log on to the NCT's online system. That will tell you what test centre the last NCT was done in. Not much help but it might confirm the Mallow hunch that you have.

Should be in the 2 star report which you have to pay for unfortunately. If the NCT expired in Sept 05 as stated by another poster, the date of first registration is probably sometime in Sept 1996. So you could try every date until you find the right one.
