Floyd vs Oscar - who deserved the decision?

This was a genuinely easy fight to score. Floyd won it handily on my card by 3-4 rounds. Walshb continually has said that he thinks Oscar deserved the decision. I think this is a very very poor comment and ridiculous judging. I'd love to see his scorecard. Does anyone agree with walshb?

Get over it, the fight was horrible, horrible to score and close for many rds.

Anyone being so certain for either man needs to stop. I had Oscar a winner.

    Closing thread.

Edit: Thread has two hrs and I am closing it. Wasting space.

Ridiculous that you are closing the thread. It's a very strange view to say that the fight was close. You are in a serious minority and then go to close the thread when you get asked to support your view, which I think you will find that nobody will agree on.

I think you should rewatch the fight. To have it anything other than a clear win for Floyd is disgraceful judging.

I am interested in what the forum thinks of the fight and if Oscar won, since you clearly think Oscar won and I clearly think Floyd won.

You can watch the entire fight on HBO here

I'm going to post my scorecard and be kind to Oscar...

De La Hoya boxed out of his skin that night, watched that one after work in the pub i used to work in; it was a close one alright and there was a few arguements after it but i have to say as much heart as Oscar showed i had it a Mayweather win myself,...

Freddie Roach was training Oscar and he even said Mayweather clearly won the fight. The reason he gave was that Mayweather won because Oscar stopped jabbing. But Oscar stopped jabbing because of the counters he was taking.

Is this some personal thing you have. The fight was a snorer, three years ago, and the most over hyped load of rubbish I have ever seen. We get it, you think he won.

Countdown to closure is 1 hr and 26 mins.....

It's not just ME who thinks Floyd won. EVERYBODY who watched the fight, other than yourself, thinks Floyd won.

I'll post my detailed scorecard in a few moments. Will you post yours and try to defend your claims that Oscar won? You do realize that nobody agrees with you right?

I just finished watching the fight... it was actually a good fight, better than I remembered. And also a very very CLEAR win for Floyd.

    My scorecard...

    ROUND ONE
    - Mayweather wins easily. Too fast, lands some potshots and keeps moving. Clear round for Floyd.

    **1-0 Mayweather

    ROUND 2
    - Good round for Oscar. Put pressure on floyd and was busier. Nothing much landed but he wins the round on pressure.

    **1-1

    ROUND 3
First minute, Oscar pursues Floyd and puts on pressure. Not much landing but looks good. Next 2 minutes Floyd dominates with hit and run tactics, landing some good shots and moving away. Landing cleaner shots. Mayweather has to take the round.

    **2-1 Mayweather

(My scorecard is identical to Harold Ledermans at this stage)

    ROUND 4
Close round. I liked Oscars pressure, he pins Floyd against the ropes and lands some body shots. Floyd wins the fight in the centre of the ring. Close round. I think you have to give it to Floyd though, because he was dominant for more of the round. Lederman agrees with me.

    **3-1 Mayweather

(Harold Lederman gave this round to Floyd)

    ROUND 5
Big round for Mayweather. Landed 2 big shots that hurt Oscar. One was a counter fight hand that buckled Oscars knees momentarily. Another was a right hand at the end of the round that had full extention. Very clear round for Mayweather. Oscar just not effective enough and getting picked off.

    **4-1 Mayweather

    ROUND 6
Mayweather had his moments but Oscar did well in the round. Eye catching punches landed when he got Floyd to the ropes and he showed good defence. Clear round for Oscar.

    **4-2. Mayweather

    ROUND 7
Close round but I will give it to Oscar. Arguments can be made for Floyd, but I liked Oscars work more in this round.

    **4-3. Mayweather

    ROUND 8
Another close round here. I'll give it to Oscar here again as I am being kind to him. I could see a case for Mayweather but I'll give it to Oscar.

    **4-4.

(Harold Lederman gave it to floyd)

    ROUND 9
Clear round for Floyd. He is coming on down the stretch now. Way more active and won that round by a long mile.

    **5-4 Mayweather.

    ****Compubox numbers through round 10..
    PUNCHES LANDED
    DLH-95
    FLOYD-136

    ROUND 10.
Mayweathers round big and easy. The most one sided round so far. He is really frustrating Oscar. lands a nice right hand on the bell which sends Oscar halfway across the ring. He landed 20 punches in that round, compared to 7 for Oscar. Oscar can't win the fight on my scorecard now. And I was kind to him giving him the close rounds.

    **6-4 Mayweather.

    ROUND 11

Another one sided round for Mayweather. Landed 26 punches to Oscars 8 punches. Floyd clearly won the last 3 rounds, no question.

    **7-4 Mayweather.

    ROUND 12

Another clear round for Floyd in my mind. Oscar made it kind of close but you have to give it to Floyd for the cleaner work.

    **8-4 Mayweather

    So thats it, 116-112.

I actually enjoyed rewatching this fight. It's not as bad as it's made out to be. There was a lot of hype about it at the time and it didn't live up to that hype, but I watching it now, I can actually say I enjoyed it. Good technical boxing, Oscar tried his heart out but floyd was just too fast and too precise.

Now, walshb. I would really like to see your scorecard here because to give OScar 7 rounds is really shocking. I don't think you'll back it up, but from now on when you talk about this fight and say Oscar won, people who haven't seen the fight will know you are very wrong.

The american commentators all have Floyd winning the fight handily.

Finally, lets have a look at the numbers of punches thrown and landed by both fighters...

    DLH threw 587 punches, landed 122 - connect % = 21%
    FLOYD threw 481, landed 207 - connect % 43%.

I hate to be snooty. especially after you put such effort into that post, but I already lost
one hour watching that fight 3 years ago; I do not intend losing another.

    30 minutes to closure.

I knew you wouldn't back it up. How could you? It's a ludicrous thing to say! Go on and close the thread.. be the powerful mod you are!

I thought Mayweather won 120-106, even without any knockdowns. I gave him two 10-8 rounds for his appearance.

I'm off to rewatch the fight and have a good tug. I can't get enough of these genetically superior affletes.
