    Hi I have a client who got a contract for 20people for a local event for 2 days work, Am I right in saying he must pps numbers and deduct tax from them all on a week one basis regardless what their status is???

    Also If they work on a Sunday is there any concession??

    Unless they are self employed and invoice him for their work which they also provide to other companies he is responsible for deducting PAYE, PRSI, Income Levy ect..

    Its a lot of work for 2 days work as s/he will then have to P45 them.

    Hi

    The self employed verses employment issue can be a minefield.

    You need to look carefully at the actual facts of the case and decide whether or not they are classified as self employed or employees. What are the responsibilities of either party? Who bears the risks and rewards of the venture. It is not enough to get them to just provide an invoice for there services when they are in all respects employees and emergency tax should be deducted.
