Hey there! I know this may be better suited for the wedding forum but I would like some advice from arty types so if it could be left here I would appreciate it.

I am going to make my own wedding invitations. It has to include the invitation itself, a map/direction page and another page detailing local hotels etc.

I have an invitation designed, and I do like it, but it's very........ normal. I'd like something a bit different, but easy enough to make.

Any crafty, arty people have any ideas??

why do you say what you already have is too ''normal''? are you just looking for ideas on how to put what you have together? you could make little booklets, or little folders or something - is that what you mean?

You really need to say what the style of the wedding will be, is there anything about you as a couple that is a bit interesting or unusual, is the wedding to be formal or informal, flowery and pretty or elegant or hippy or - what?

You could choose unusal paper for printing on, tie them up with ribbon, add a tiny flower (from fabric and craft shops) or something relevant as above. Can you draw cartoons? a line drawing, relevant cartoon on the envelope would be interesting.

We don't know what level of originality you have already, or what skills you have with graphics programmes or making packaging. Do you have a booklet that you want a cover design for? Get some paper doilies or a stencil and give a light spray of silver paint - just a squib - to create a pattern on the front.

Basicially what I have is an A4 page cut in 3. Tied at the top. With a front page of vellum with a printing of a branch for want of a better word. The same branch is in the corner of each of the other pages.

I'm happy with it but like I said I've seen it a few times before. If I come up with nothing better they'll be fine.

I can't draw at all. I can use publisher, powerpoint etc & have printing facilities.

Informal wedding, but want to keep the invitations elegant.

if you want to PM your addy and I'll send a couple of folded cards that are a bit different but easy to make from a single sheet (too lazy to take photos and post up - easier to send) - they'll be blank but if you can use Publisher you'll be grand.
