    Hey guys,

I got a mint condition C64 for my 30th last weekend, it was the Terminator 2 pack, I had one of these back in the day, I remember it well. The only thing that didnt come with the gift was a joystick.

I am trying to get hold of 2 on ebay at the moment, but in the meantime, can I pick up a cheap joystick in town so I can have my gaming fix?

I know many systems in the day were compatible with each other, bit for the life of me, I cant remember (That is what 30 does to you:pac:)

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
The Atari (2600 , 8bit and ST), the Amiga and (I think) amstrad were compatible with it.
If you're stuck a master system or megadrive pad will work as well.
The dodgy "retro" shop across the road from guineys in talbot st (i'm guessing town=dublin)may have one or two (they had some before)

I always found that the megadrive controller was a lot better for most games on the C64 compared to the usual joysticks, but for the wrist breaker games (I'm looking at you Daley Thompson and your Decathalon) it wasn't the greatest.

Hey guys, thanks for the update, I must have a look out, some joysticks on ebay are going to crazy prices. I am based in Limerick but am heading up to Dublin in a week or so, I will check out that retro shop.

I powered her up last nite to see the C64 in all her glory, I loaded such games as Rainbow Islands, Microdot, Delta and all worked no probs, I need a joypad now though - mad to play it!!!!

Yep a megadrive joypad will do the trick.

Isn't it great that back in the day, everything was compatible and inter changable.

Where did it all go wrong:pac:

It's a great thing to know that our brain endured the massive leap of technology . This giant step from using only one orange button joypad to a 21 button playstation joypad. The only thing i liked about atari and c64 was the game's picture cover . No one will be offended if i say fck c64 ?
And for atari i don't mind wearing a tshirt with it's logo on it.

Not the best way to endear yourself ot the lads here on the RETRO forum. Whats the point of even saying fck c64? How old are you?
