Passport Expiry

Hi All

Apolgoies if this question has been asked before

girl in my job just looking for advice
her passport expires on 31/08/2010 but she is hoping to go to Spain for weeks hol either end of June or early (first 2 weeks) July
can she travel on this passport or would she need to get a renewed one?

i know some places need a passport with at least 6 months valid on it - but not sure if Spain is covered in that? Also heard Ryanair can be picky - but again not sure.

An Irish or other EU passport is valid for travel in Spain or any EU country until the expiry date.

"All EU citizens have the right to enter and reside in the territory of any other member state of the European Union for a period of up to three months simply by presenting a valid passport or national identity card; no other formality is required. Member states cannot set additional conditions concerning the minimum validity of duration of the identity card or passport."

By the way, an Irish passport is also valid for the USA until the expiry date, as certain countries are exempt from the six month vaildity requirement.
