Some news on Black Ops

Here's some info from the Call of Duty Wiki, heard some stuff on youtube vids so decided to Google it. I'm impressed with some of the decisions, while some are a bit annoying - like vehicles
    * Vehicles will return, but they will be very different than those in Call of Duty: World at War.

    * Black Ops will feature a dedicated co-op campaign, supporting up to four players, which uses different levels than the singleplayer campaign.

    * Treyarch is considering releasing a beta-build test, and has hinted that it is likely.

    * Matchmaking is being changed so that it is easier for friends to play together.

    * Some campaign levels will be based off multiplayer maps instead of the typical vice-versa. This change is because some multiplayer maps had been made before the campaign was finalized.

    * Create-A-Class 2.0 will allow players to customize their appearance in addition to their loadout.

    * Customized killstreaks will return, but the game-ending Tactical Nuke will not. Kills earned from killstreak rewards will not count towards increasing a player's killstreak.

    * The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 perk Commando is not expected to return.

    * The PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops will feature dedicated servers.

Some other stuff I've heard/read are:

Modern Warfare 2's host migration will be included
Only 2 perk slots will be selectable, with the third being filled depending on the two chosen to stop overpowered combinations like Marathon/Lightweight/Commando
There's also a rumour that the knife will take up the secondary slot if chosen

You can view the guns, and more info, here:

Im happy bout the vehicles, i didnt use them alot in WAW but sure it will be something different again after MW2. One thing i dont like is the fact kills with kilstreak rewards dont count to your killstreak.

It sounds good, the 4 player co-op missions sound good, looking forward to this game and Fallout 4 this year also. Should be a good end to the year!

Besides the vehicles and no dedicated servers for consoles, everything else sound excellent.

The killstreak thing, so its only kills you physically do yourself that count? as in you get 5 kills, get a harrier/air support, but you still need to kill 4 more people to get chopper support or whatever way they spread out the streaks? that'll eliminate a lot of camping and spawn trapping and the like which is only a good thing.

As its set in Nam for part of it its gonna be frigging awesome to have Huey air support, love that whup whup whup sound those make, itll be all Apocalypse Now :)

glad they are listening to the public, and getting rid of alot what is wrong with mw2. hopefully there will be nothing like the tanks in waw , nothing worse than someone in a tank releasing the hounds :(

Id like the whole killstreak rewards system to be something similar to mw1. It'd be good for instance to get a claymore or whatever after 3 kills etc..

Vehicles sounds class, I think the whole story would be better if you could play as the Vietcong, what with them having won the war and all!

    Just my 2cents..

Tanks were grand and were a whole lot easier to knock out - and were less of a threat - than kill streaks such as Chopper gunner or AC130.

alot easier to get a tank than an ac130 , some people just driving around in tanks till its damaged, get out and enter a new tank and repeat.

Tanks only spawned after they were destroyed. At a maximum Roundhouse had two tanks on the map, outskirts had three and Seelow had the most with four. There is always competition for them. Furthermore tanks once destroyed took a full minute to respawn; so it's not like the maps were swamped with tanks just lying around allowing the player to jump from one to another. And besides tanks were a piece of piss to destroy - fireworks + satchel charge under tank = insta-death.
