I know its a stupid question really but what film makes you lean forward in your seat, excitement building as the bad guys gets his comeuppance?

Is it something like Liam Neeson leaving a trail of dead bodies behind him as he tracks down the people who absconded with his daughter.

Or, in keeping with the western thread going at the moment, is it more like Clint Eastwood, the man with no name, making short work of anybody whos stupid enough to draw on him?

Theres a million and one films that suit the bill so i leave to you boardsies to decide.

The words David swiftly followed by Keith means manliness at it's most manly.

This is one of Keith's most fun filled films, a sleazy Raiders of the Lost Ark which was also directed by David.

Leone's westerns, methinks. One of his scriptwriters, a childhood friend, once asked him how on earth to write the meeting of two characters in a western. Leone told him that it was very much like how they behaved as boys in Rome - petty displays of machismo escalating to a fight. I doubt those films have the same resonance for most women.

It HAS to be Cool Hand Luke.
It's about nothing except a manly contempt for authority and Newman being impossibly cool.

Weird, I was going to post that, that exact scene too.
But then I just thought that certain aspects of it aren't very manly.
They break him at one point for one and his sadness over the death of his mother.

Check out The 13th Warrior, it's concentrated manliness. After hearing the "Viking death prayer" I immediately felt the urge to fight a last desperate battle against impossible odds.

The bank job and the aftermath in Heat. Probably the best shootout in cinema history. I would love to know the extent of Andy McNabb's role? The fantastic music score also made the scene.

Aliens is almost a feminist tract. Don't be foolish by all the shootin' aliens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,709 ✭✭✭✭Cantona's Collars

Romper Stomper-one of Russell Crowes 1st movies. As for the feminist tract in Aliens, nobody really analyses that in a movie with so many guns.Ripley is more manly in that than most of the so called modern 'mans man' actors.:D

300 by a long shot. Woman needed to be on the pill before going to see that in the cinema. Such was it's overriding manliness.
