Buying a "classis" van in UK, (mk 2 transit)

    Ok, the girlfriend has spotted a MK 2 Transit van maybe not specifically a classic but I thought some peeps here would have an better idea about the logistics.

    The thing is in the UK and I'm not really sure if it's drivable. In fact let's just presume it's not. It needs a "pump"; not sure if that's fuel or oil, and possibly a carb looked at. It hasn't run in a year and a half. Normally I'd be against this but I kind of like the idea of a big V6 van ;)
    So I'm going over this in my head...

    Assuming the thing isn't running. Would it be a plan to arrange to have it towed back? or maybe get a the parts there, get it running if possible and drive it back. We'd need to get a mechanic over there, parts might be cheaper though.

    If you're dead set on this van I'd have it towed back. Starting work on any classic usually unearths a whole pile of hidden stuff so starting work abroad isn't the best plan IMO
