A question about laptop memory

I have a dell inspiron 6400 for around 3 years. It started off with 64 gigabytes and now the OS( C: ) is reduced to almost 2 gigs >_< not to mention the Recovery being reduced from 10 gigabytes to 2 megabytes!

I have deleted so much un-needed stuff and am for the most part left with a few softwares like itunes, Gimp, etc including a few files which nowhere near add up to 64 gigs!

Is there anyway I can claim this memory back or is it that once this memory is used it's gone for good. It can't be used again?

If anyone can help my situation I'd love it. Thanks.

You're talking about storage, not memory just to let you know.

Sometimes multiple profiles can take up a lot of space.

Go to C drive. Documents & Settings and see how many users there are. Highlight all the extra ones and right click and check properties. How much space do they take up?

In a case like this however when ever your recovery drive is so maxed out I would just back up all your files. Make sure you have all your software discs and just reinstall yous OS and basically start as if new.

download cccleaner , it gets rid of old temp files, it should delete 500,700 meg approx, its free http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner, uninstall any programs,or games you dont need. There must be mp3s or games taking up hd space.
UNINSTALLING programs, or deleting mp3s, or movie files frees up space, delete files, then right click recycle bin, empty recycle bin.
