    Follow Fat Tony's advice carefully in this thread

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=63231810

    Process I now use is

    1. .ts --> .mpeg (Pvastrumento)
    2. .mpeg --> .avi (AutoGK - and you can also use it to remove ads)
    You get decent quality at about 400 Mb per hour of content.

    Both packages are freeware and can be run in batch mode. Works nicely with humax freesat .ts files

    See here for a guide on how to run AutoGK

    Trevord

    Many thanks, this thread seems to be getting me somewhere. PVAStrumento is working with my dvr files where everything apart from the terrible DVR Studio failed.

    AHHH running into more probs, I have posted in the thread you refered to above

    The only one of any value is "quickmedia convertor" It's completely free. Works very well with ts and now does HD.

    Does not work with .dvr files at all and crashed with Visual Studio JIT debugger . . . always a bad sign

    I use this for dvr to ts conversion.

    Then i convert to mpeg and then use video redo to convert to avi.
