BSOD on windows 7

I keep getting the dreaded BSOD everytime I turn my laptop on from stand by. If I shutdown windows and boot it normally it never comes up. Only when the laptop goes on standby after leaving it on for a few mins. I don't know how to fix this. I cant even look up the error on the net because the BSOD only stays on the screen for less than a second before crashing. Anyone know how I can find out what the problem is?

I've found that USB devices in particular can cause trouble when you are coming back from hibernation mode with laptops, do you have any installed? Can you take down the blue screen message or is it too quick? Maybe try take video with your phone and then copy down the message?

First thing you'll need is the stop code - right-click on My Computer, select Properties, go to Advanced Settings to get the System Properties window. Select the Advanced Tab, then go to the Startup & Recovery section and click Settings. Uncheck "automatically restart" and make a note of the location where the dump files will go in case you need to check them.

Once you've got your stop code, look it up at the Microsoft Support page. and see if there's a hotfix for it. If not, check your computer manufacturer's support page and see if they offer one.

It sounds like a power management issue to me, so hopefully there should be a fix available.
