Hi I have a couple of questions regarding claiming tax relief on course fees.

    1) What is the time limit for claiming tax relief? Is it too late to claim tax relief for fees paid in respect of the 2008/2009 academic year?

    2) How much tax would one have to have paid in order to be eligibile to claim tax relief? Also - would the tax have to be paid in the year you are claiming, or in the year you paid the fees?

    Thanks

For some reason three years comes immediately to mind for 1). Best to confirm though.

As for how much tax to pay, I don't know - best to check with Revenue as I would assume each person's details are different (Married? Claiming the dole? Living with parents?)

    Phone numbers are here: http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it31.html

Hope it all works out :)
