Pre Exams = Actual exams?

So far I've noticed a lot of similarities between my mock exams and the real thing. Maths had exact same theorems, business had about 90% of the same type of long questions and the geography sketch map question was similar.
Do you think the mock companies predict the junior cert and give it to us as our mock exam? Industrial Rev is tipped for History which was Q5 in my mock, would it be risky learning model answers from my mock as well as a few others for the exam tomorrow?
    Others views are welcome :D

There's nothing risky about learning off answers that may have been what came up in the pre.

As far as I can tell they go by what hasn't come up but that doesn't mean the SEC wont change stuff around (which they have done irish!)

I'd say history will be quite similar to the pre (DEB anyways)

I've noticed that too, although there're two different companies? If anyone has the question 5 questions from the mocks could you please post them here I lost mine :(:(

Part A and B you get from the text and that's pretty simple
Part C you got to pick and write an account for one of the following
Efforts to improve working conditions in factories and mines in the 19th century (Brtain)

Impact of living conditions in industrial towns on the diet + health of people

Changes in education and leisure in Britain during the 19th century

The 'pre' (or mock) exams have nothing whatsoever to do with the SEC Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. exams.

They are not set by the same people, nor corrected to the same standard. Their purpose is to make money for the (at least) three companies that devise and sell them, particularly from the correction fees.

They frequently have off-syllabus topics on them. You are much better off revising actual SEC papers.

Please don't 'learn off' answers. Read the question you are asked and use what you know to answer it.

Yes, the change to Irish caught a lot of people :o Luckily my novel (Imithe le Ruadhri O Baille) and the themes prepared with it got me through the change quite easily :)

I had the DEB mock exam and the long questions seem to match those that were predicted and expected. Since I am really bad at history and haven't studied it yet I suppose these shall be my focus topics for tonight :D

Yeah, I'm really hoping to end my history forever on a high but no way I can learn a course from 6-10 tonight :pac:
Focus is on this as Explorations and Industrial Rev are tipped for an appearance somewhere and they appeared in mock so chances are they'll be as similar as other subjects :)

With a collection of what people have predicted I think the exam will go like so:
    Q4: Archaeologist/Reformer
    Q5: Industrial Rev/Age of Explorations
    Q6 A: Whichever didn't come up in Q5.

That would be my ideal exam really and I only want a C (such low standards with this subject :pac:) And hopefully social comes up so i can bluff my way up marks :p Still pure stressed about this exam though

it was like some from the text, dangers faced by sailors, reasons for the explorations etc. and then an account of the effects of the explorations on the native peoples of S. America...piss easy really...we got the other mock with the ind. rev. question on it and it was fine....I preferred our one though! Explorations is the simplest topic...

Ermm most of A was just from the text, the last part you had to name an explorer (other than Prince Henry the Navigator) and the country that sponsored the voyage

B you had to name the instruments in the photos and you had to name 2 dangers sailors faced

C "As a result of exploration the newly discovered lands and their peoples were exploited, conquered and badly treated" Do you agree? Write an account explaining your answer. (12m)

I remember that part c came up before and I liked the question, hopefully tomorrow isn't too difficult.
Good luck everyone, I'm off for it.
    Bonne chance ;)

I was just going to said most of what you have explained there.

Especially that the companies are mainly money-making businesses and that the SEC papers would be much more reliable to practise.

Like in my mock history last year, none of it came up in the real thing :pac: So I had gone from an A in my mocks to a C in the real thing because, I won't lie, I was hoping none of the subject I hated would come up like they didn't in the mocks :) (ie. Plantations, the reformation)... but sadly they did and I ended up posting this up on boards about a year ago..
    Oh holy jebus.!
History was the worst exam I've ever done..
so long all honours!.. I HATE HISTORY..
I completly bulled my way through question 5 & 6.
My people in history was brilliant, I'd say I'd get 40/40 for that but other then that....:(

    :o

Just a lil' story for ye. But anyways.. practise SEC papers guys! :)

From our study of SEC papers, it seems our predictions coincedentally match out mocks, and since it happened it quite a few exams already that they were almost identical, I'm getting confused as to what to study for history.
A reformer was in Q4 ( predicted before from SEC patterns) Cold war was predicted for part b (came up on mock). Industrial Rev/Exp for 5(one on one mock, the other on another) and ancient ireland was for q6A which was what I did on my mock paper as I can remember.
