Masters in Business Marketing and Management

    Hi there,
I'm kind of stuck at a crossroads at the moment on which masters to choose and am wondering if anyone has any advice or experience in this area as I'm at a loss. I recently finished my BCL Law in UCC and am hoping to divert into business, I don't really mind what area but it has come down to a choice of two masters:
    http://www.ucc.ie/en/study/postgrad/what/businesslaw/masters/mgmt/ in UCC
    or
    http://www.qub.ac.uk/schools/QueensUniversityManagementSchool/ProspectiveStudents/PostgraduateTaughtDegrees/MScManagement/ProgrammeDetails/ in Queens Belfast.

I would prefer to go to another college just for the new experience but I don't want to choose a masters based on what would be more fun. The pros for the one in Cork seems to me to be the work placement option and more flexibility within the course itself but I've often heard employers look more favorably on diversity of college choices for your degrees. Obviously in the current economy the most important factor for me is which will make me more qualified when I'm finished. I would appreciate any advice anyone has on this!

Sorry I don't know much about these courses but don't get too hung up about not leaving UCC for your masters. Employers care more about what experience you have (the more of it the better) and if the work experience going with the UCC masters is in the field you want to break into, I'd be more inclined to do that one.

Lots of masters promise work placement, many fail to deliver.

Get in touch with the Management and Marketing department and ask what companies they have placed students with.

Thanks so much for your input everyone. I already emailed asking and it seems like a lot of random businesses including festivals etc and not any well known businesses still though experience is experience? I'm thinking of following the Queen's route and just try and get experience elsewhere in my spare time?

I had a good few clases with the masters in M&M last year and many of them had no placement on the run up to their final exams in March and I was getting the understanding that it was really up to themselves to sort it (dunno if UCC Carers were helping or not).

Also I am ineligible for the course since I've completed most of the subjects on it otherwise and they are all pretty easy in my experience.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but can anyone who's applied for using the PAC online application confirm that there doesn't seem to be any request for references etc? I'm at the stage of about to confirm my payment, and there's been no mention of it, unlike other masters (though they do talk about sending on transcripts/copies of degrees, there's no mention of references). Have I missed something along the way? Or do UCC contact your former college directly, or just not really give a damn?!
